East View Geospatial is looking for an entry-level person to manage our physical maps in two (2) locations - Head Quarters (Minnetonka, MN) and Warehouse (Maple Plain, MN). This job is onsite. It requires metadata authoring and organizing/maintaining physical map collections. Recent or soon to be graduates with a degree in Library and Information Science are encouraged to apply.

Essential Job Functions:- Receiving of Materials:
- Unpacking map shipments
- Cross checking itemized shipment lists with received items
- Creating an initial inventory of items received along with identified shipment discrepancies
- Physical Processing:
- Supports and tracks the movement of map collections to and from the scanning unit
- Coordinates the transfer of maps between the East View Headquarters map library and the East View Map Link warehouse storage facility in Maple Plain, MN
- Map Library Operations:
- Maintains the filing, organization, and maintenance of the East View Headquarters map collection
- Contributes to the planning of the physical map library spaces to ensure optimal accessibility and efficient use of space
- Metadata Creation and Maintenance:
- Creates metadata to support map scanning production
- Quality reviews metadata entries for completeness and accuracy
- Excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office software suite
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to complete short-term projects with tight deadlines
- Ability to adhere to rigorous metadata standards and rules
- An interest in maps, geography, and/or libraries
- Reliable transportation is required as employee will work both at the East View Headquarters, and at the East View Map Link storage warehouse Maple Plain, MN
- Degree in Library and Information Science, required
- Prior GIS/Cartography experience, desired
- Prior library experience, desired
- Foreign language proficiency - Russian/Chinese/Persian/Arabic/etc., desired
