Job Summary
Leads, schedules, reviews and participates in the work activities of staff engaged in the maintenance and repair of parking meters. Maintains inventory and orders parts, tools, signs, and housings for meter shop. Prepares and maintains records and reports. * Classification title pending City Council approval.
Representative Duties
Leads and schedules the work activities of the parking meter repair shop. Develops, plans, monitors and adjusts service and repair schedules, including routine and preventative maintenance programs for parking meters.
Trains new staff. Assigns work to staff and ensures work order completion. Provides input on employee performance evaluations.
Establishes, monitors and adjusts routes to create and ensure efficiency in maintenance and repair activities.
Interprets, communicates and enforces City and Department policies and procedures. Ensures that parking meter repair personnel support department objectives, standards and goals.
Locates and repairs parking meters. Rebuilds, overhauls, and lubricates meters. Performs scheduled and preventative maintenance.
Sets and modifies meters for rate and time changes. Installs meter housing. Repairs and rebuilds locks for housing. Straightens bent poles. Calibrates timing mechanisms from a master timer.
Installs, replaces and maintains meter signs. Marks and drills anchor bolts in concrete to install signage.
Coordinates repair of broken meters with the Police and Finance Departments.
Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports. Uses integrated computer systems for on-street parking applications to monitor, perform and record maintenance related issues.
Takes and maintains inventory. Orders materials for meter shop including parts, tools, signs, and housings.
Assists supervisors in developing the parking meter repair budget.
Collects money from meters at various locations in the City, when needed.
Follows applicable safety rules and regulations.
Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Education, Training and Experience:
Graduation from high school or the equivalent.
Three years of recent, paid work experience performing mechanical repair of gear trains, timers and/or clocks which has included troubleshooting and repair of electromechanical and electronic parking meters.

Licenses and Certificates:
Possession of a valid Class C driver license. A valid forklift operator's certificate must be obtained within six months of date of hire.
