    Description

    Texas Meter & Device is hiring for a full time field meter technicians in the greater Columbia, MO area and surrounding areas.

    We provide training for this position! You must have a mechanical aptitude to succeed!

    Under the general direction of the Project Manager or Field Supervisor, the Field Meter Technician will be exchanging residential class electric meters and exchanging or installing new gas meter modules. Pay is based on production once training is complete. Technicians can make $25-30/hour or more depending on production levels. There is no cap on production pay! *** TMD WILL TRAIN YOU SO THAT YOU HAVE ALL THE SKILLS TO SUCCEED AND MAKE THE HIGHER END WAGES ***

    Technicians must report at the beginning and end of each day to our location in Columbia.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Will exchange residential class electric meters
    • Retrofitting residential and commercial class gas modules
    • Use a work order management system to capture site data
    • Maintain accurate records of work completed
    • Oversee the materials, equipment, vehicle and tools
    • Maintains and operates a company vehicle following all safety requirements and safe driving habits
    • Will report to the TMD location in Excelsior Springs, MO location at the beginning and ending of each shift.
    • Keep track of new and used inventory
    • Recording of addresses, GPS, and meter information
    • Verification of proper installation/transmission of new meter data by utilizing tablet PC, handheld equipment or smartphone
    • Manages daily client communications, data and reporting
    • Coordinates scheduling and meets quality / quantity requirements
    • Provides for excellence in internal and external customer service by creating a positive experience for customers, end users and communities through professional and courteous behavior and producing high quality results
    • Other duties and tasks as assigned or necessary

     

    Qualifications


    Requirements:

    Mechanical aptitude is necessary

    Ability to use hand held computing device and other equipment as required for the position

    Ability to work with minimal supervision

    Ability to stand on feet, bend or stoop for a prolonged period of time. The work is performed outdoors and through inclement weather as necessary

    Ability to carry out duties in a safe and efficient manner

    Dependability and Reliability

    Previous electrical and plumbing experience preferred but not required

    Good Communication Skills (speaking, reading and writing)

    Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record

    Must be a minimum of 21 years of age and have a minimum of 3 years of driving experience due to insurance requirements

    Must have steel or composite toe work boots

    Must have own personal Smart phone

    Additional Requirements: Background check clearance including drug screening and I-9 documentation as required by law

    Shift and Pay Info:

    • Classroom and Field training rate is $18.00 /hr.
    • Fully trained technicians can make $25-30/hour or more depending on production levels
    • End of Project Bonus between $1000.00 to $2500.00 CAN be earned based on the following criteria:
    • Safety
    • Quality
    • Production
    • Attendance
    • Generally Monday Friday, with possible Saturday work required at times to support the Project schedule
    • Work hours are 8 hours between 7am 5pmTypically 7:00am to 3:30pm with 1/2 hour lunch
