    KUFM- MontanaPBS invites applications for a Media Programmer to produce and direct TV programming for a state-wide audience.
    Responsibilities:
    • Research, write and produce within program guidelines.
    • Expert knowledge of studio and field production process.
    • Knowledge of quality television and video production standards.
    • Knowledge of PBS system “Best Practices and Standards”.
    • Ability to work within budget, schedule standards and deadlines.
    • Insight into new program projects.
    • Ability to work well with co-workers at Missoula and Bozeman stations.
    • Ability to produce special projects as needed.
    • Ability to represent the Broadcast Media Center and MontanaPBS to clients.
    • Knowledge of MontanaPBS goals and mission.
    • Ability to work flexible hours
    • Ability to be self-motivated and work under deadline pressure
    • Ability to handle crises under pressure
    • Ability to lift heavy production equipment and carry it for long periods of time.
    • Operation of motor vehicle.
    • Possess interpersonal skills.

    • Ability to collaborate and recommend alternative approaches to clients.

    Required Skills

    • Knowledge of best practices in television and documentary production and distribution.
    • Demonstrated experience and success in maintaining high journalistic standards under deadline pressure, including news judgment, objectivity, balance and fairness.
    • Demonstrated excellence in news writing, background research, gathering and production skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal skills, including quick, concise writing, and a probing but respectful interview technique.
    • Knowledge of journalism ethics of balance, fairness and inclusion
    • Excellent skills in technology and software used in news gathering, production and distribution.
    • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new trends and best practices in technology
    • Proven ability to report and produce quality content for broadcast.
    • Ability to participate in collaborative projects with Montana Public Radio and the UM academic departments and in particular the School of Journalism.

    Minimum Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in journalism, broadcasting or related field or equivalent experience and minimum of four (4) years of experience in broadcast, documentary and/or multi-media journalism and production

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Degree in Journalism with experience performing under live-production pressure

      Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week),
      Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year
      occasional evening and weekend work required
      Salary: $19.256/hr
      Union Affiliation: FOCUS-MFPE
      Probationary Period: Six months minimum
