JOB SUMMARY:

The Programmer will design, develop, and maintain CNC programs and set-up instructions for vertical mills, including working with solid models, selecting cutting tools based on part features and material requirements, and designing fixtures as required on 3 and 4 axis machining centers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, develop, and maintain CNC programs and set-up instructions for machining.
• Select appropriate cutting tools based on part feature and material requirements.
• Design fixtures for machining when necessary.
• Verify the availability of the tooling needed to run parts associated with the programs.
• Create and compile necessary documents and work procedures to aid in machine set up and operation.
• Process engineering change orders and other reprocessed parts.
• Participate and support Continuous Improvement initiatives.
• Perform work at the appropriate pace to maintain quality and productivity requirements.
• Communicate with Maxcam employees at all levels of the organization to ensure smooth business operations, and work with others in evaluating product design and tool requirements.
• Adhere to Company-Wide Safety Initiatives.
• Other Duties as Required.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Demonstrate technical knowledge, including the abilities to read and interpret blueprints, use CNC controls, interpret and edit G-code and M-code programming.
• Effective and appropriate oral and written communication skills, including legible handwriting.
• Ability to solve practical problems and make decisions within a set of guidelines.
• Ability to read and understand required internal manufacturing paperwork in metric and English.
• Work with others as part of a high-performance team.
• Adapt to changing work priorities.
• Remain positive in challenging work environments.
• Demonstrate a clear understanding of inspection, GD&T, and various inspection tools.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of SolidWorks.
• Maintain favorable working relationships with coworkers to promote a cooperative working climate conducive to maximum productivity, efficiency and effectiveness
• Communicate relevant information and concerns positively and effectively to others in a timely manner.
• Demonstrate leadership and sound judgment when representing Maxcam.
• Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• 2 years of recent set-up and operating vertical CNC mills with 4th axis (HAAS preferred).
• 5 years minimum programming experience.
