Millwright maintains industrial machinery and equipment using hoists, lift trucks, hand and power tools. Moves, assembles, installs or dismantles machinery. Being a Millwright interprets schematic diagrams, blueprints, and sketches. Analyzes plans for new equipment and maps out space to unpack and assemble new equipment. Additionally, Millwright troubleshoots problems and repairs or replaces worn or broken parts as necessary. May use equipment like forklifts, aerial lifters, and cranes to move heavy or unwieldy machinery. May perform welding, fabrication, or calibration as needed. Follows all work site safety requirements and regulations. Typically requires a high school diploma. May require OSHA Forklift Operator Certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Millwright works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Millwright typically requires 1-3 years of related experience.     Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
    • Maintain, repaired, and install equipment associated with the manufacturing environment of a paper mill, including the buildings, equipment, and grounds.
    • Daily participation in preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment optimization to deliver effective operations.
    • Choose safety in everything you do.
    • Manage scheduled repairs and emergent requests appropriately.
    • Focused effort on sustainable solutions for long-term success by reducing reactive processes.
    • Complete the MSAP program as defined in the collective bargaining agreement.
    • Must support and participate in Reliability Centered Maintenance, and other continuous improvement efforts.
    • Train machine operators on fundamental procedures and techniques for proper operation and responses to deviation.
    • Participate in training exercises and classes required to remain competent in the maintenance field.
    • Assist others in the maintenance department.
    • All other assignments as assigned by Management.

    Knowledge, Education, and Training Qualifications and Certifications:
    • Candidates must possess a Certificate of Apprenticeship or Journeyman license as a Maintenance Mechanic/Millwright.
    • High school graduate or equivalent.

    Key Functional Competencies:
    • 3 -5 Years of Industrial Maintenance Mechanic/Millwright experience is preferred.
    • Maintenance Mechanic/Millwright in the paper machine environment is preferred.
    • Experience in preventative maintenance programs is preferred.

    Key Performance Competencies:
    • Self-motivated team player.
    • Proficient in mechanical skills including: 
      • Metal fabrication.
      • Blueprint reading.
      • Preventive maintenance.
      • Troubleshooting.
      • Power and hand tool operation.
    • Ability to problem solve with little to no direction.

    Physical Requirements:
    • Walk/stand on concrete floors for up to 12 hours/day.
    • 12-hour rotating shift work.
    • Work holidays, weekends.
    • Bend, stoop, and twist as much as needed to perform all types of maintenance work.
    • Able to enter confined spaces, use high lifts, climb ladders up to 30 feet, and lift up 100 lbs. throughout the facility as needed.
    • Exposure to, paper dust, noise levels exceeding 90DB, chemicals, and fumes from welding, cleaning, and lubrication.
    • Must be able to wear PPE: Ear plugs, safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, and other PPE as required.
