Position Description:A Process Operator controls equipment and systems that process chemical substances and materials into products. This individual will take direction from the operations supervisor on daily plant activities. This includes monitoring and adjusting process area conditions in the field as well as utilizing SCADA and PLC computer controls, taking, and analyzing samples, loading, and unloading trucks, packaging product and waste, and general cleanup. This individual will also be expected to learn and operate various pieces of mobile equipment such as skid steer loaders, forklifts, front end loaders, haul trucks, water trucks, etc. Essential Duties:
- Completes daily area inspections, reporting any unsafe conditions or process concerns.
- Perform chemical operations in a safe and effective manner.
- Monitor and control flow, pressure, and temperature of chemical process equipment.
- Safety and efficiently operate a forklift and skid steer loader.
- Effectively reports all near-misses and incidents to supervision.
- Describes plant issues in detail to aid operations and maintenance work.
- Operate plant equipment as per Standard Operating Procedures.
- Safely and efficiently operates various pieces of mobile equipment at any given time.
- Document plant processes and record production data.
- Clean equipment as needed and report building or equipment repairs.
- Participates in daily housekeeping assignments.
- Completes any other tasks as needed or as directed by management
Basic Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn the flow of a chemical process and the cause/effect relationship of the process changes.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple departments to ensure that production requirements are met.
- The ability to work with littler supervision and follow through with multiple assignments.
- Basic computer skills: Windows, Office, Excel
- Must meet respirator standards and use respirators when required.
- Shows attention to detail and ability to learn new duties.
- Attention to safe work practices and knowing one’s limitations.
- High School or equivalent required.
- Valid Driver’s License and good driving record required to drive company vehicles on property.
Desired Qualities:
- Prior experience in some form of chemical process or water treatment
- Prior experience with some form of light or heavy mobile equipment
- Has proven to work safely with chemicals including hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide, flocculants, and coagulants.
Specialized Skills:- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work in teams.
- Knowledge of a wide range of equipment and machinery operations.

Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include expose to moving mechanical parts, toxic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, explosives, fumes or airborne particles.
