Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an MDS Coordinator. As an MDS Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely medical documentation and utilization management. This position requires strong knowledge of physiology, case management, and acute care standards.
Duties:
- Coordinate and oversee the completion of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments for all residents
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including doctors, to gather necessary information for accurate documentation
- Conduct utilization review to ensure appropriate levels of care are provided to residents
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, making necessary corrections or updates as needed
- Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and standards related to medical documentation
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans based on resident needs
- Provide education and training to staff regarding proper documentation practices
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to medical documentation and utilization management
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field (preferred)
- Valid nursing license (RN or LPN)
- Proven experience in utilization management, case management, or similar roles
- Strong knowledge of physiology and acute care standards
- Familiarity with eClinicalWorks or similar electronic medical record systems
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in medical documentation
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
