The Applications Developer III position provides technical innovative thinking that will offer technology-based solutions for the students, faculty and staff of Tulane University. This position will direct and participate in all phases of application development with emphasis on the planning, analysis, testing and acceptance phases. The Applications Developer III position will provide support and mentoring for other members of the team as well as develop and implement large-scale, database-driven web and server applications using standards-based methodologies and tools. Assist in the creation of functional and technical specifications of web and server related projects. Recommend and implement server based solutions for the university. Design and code applications utilizing approved software/development platforms.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent written and verbal communications skills with ability to communicate verbally and in writing with both non-technical end-users and technical staff required
Web Coding experience using JAVA (e.g. JAVA, JSP, JSF, Spring Framework, Hibernate, Servlets, JSF)
Experience using modern JavaScript API's and frameworks such as JQuery, Angular, React, etc.
Experience in developing with a relational database such as SQL Server, Oracle or MYSQL
A solid understanding of web application development processes, from the layout/user interface to relational database structures
Commitment to customer service
Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies
Required Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of rapid web based development, using HTML, JavaScript, CSS and coding experience with JAVA (e.g. JSP, Servlets, Spring, Hibernate, Tomcat) Web Technologies
OR
High school diploma or equivalent and 6 years of rapid web based development, using HTML, JavaScript, CSS and coding experience with JAVA (e.g. JSP, Servlets, Spring, Hibernate, Tomcat) Web Technologies
Experience in developing with a relational database such as SQL Server, Oracle or MYSQL
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing web or mobile applications using HTML5 and CSS3
Experience using the SCRUM development methodology
