Job Description: Full-Service Restaurant General Manager
Position Overview:
The Full-Service Restaurant General Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the restaurant's operations, including front-of-house and back-of-house activities. This role requires strong leadership skills, business acumen, and the ability to manage a team effectively. The General Manager ensures the highest level of customer satisfaction, profitability, and adherence to company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operations Management:
- Oversee all restaurant activities, including dining room service, kitchen operations, and bar service, to ensure efficient and smooth operations.
- Monitor and maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and service, ensuring adherence to established recipes and customer expectations.
- Collaborate with the kitchen manager to develop and update menus, incorporating seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
- Manage inventory levels of food, beverages, and supplies, placing orders as needed to meet demand and minimize waste.
- Take ownership for doing what is necessary to minimize safety risks to employees, customers and vendors.
- Team Leadership and Training:
- Recruit, train, and supervise restaurant staff, including servers, bartenders, hosts, and kitchen staff.
- Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to ensure a high level of productivity, professionalism, and customer service.
- Foster a positive work environment, promoting teamwork, open communication, and a strong work ethic.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate goals, expectations, and any changes in procedures or policies.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance customer service skills and product knowledge among staff.
- Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the restaurant budget, ensuring financial targets are met and expenses are controlled.
- Monitor and analyze sales data, labor costs, scheduling and shift coverage, and other financial metrics to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
- Implement strategies to maximize revenue, such as upselling, promotional activities, and effective pricing strategies.
- Control costs through efficient inventory management, portion control, and waste reduction measures.
- Collaborate with the accounting department to ensure accurate financial reporting and adherence to financial policies and procedures.
- Customer Satisfaction and Marketing:
- Ensure that all guests receive exceptional service and have a positive dining experience.
- Respond promptly and effectively to customer complaints or concerns, taking appropriate corrective actions.
- Regularly interact with customers to gather feedback, address inquiries, and build positive relationships.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement marketing strategies to attract new customers and retain existing ones.
- Stay updated on industry trends, customer preferences, and competition to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a General Manager or similar role in a full-service restaurant.
- Strong knowledge of restaurant operations, including front-of-house and back-of-house activities.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficient in financial management, budgeting, and cost control.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
