    What will I do as a Mess Attendant?

    The Mess Attendant plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our facilities. The core duties and essential responsibilities of this position include :

    Custodial and Facility Maintenance : Mop tile and concrete floor areas to ensure cleanliness and safety. Vacuum all carpeted areas to maintain a neat appearance.

    Dust furniture and fixtures regularly to uphold a clean environment. Wash and disinfect washroom floors, toilets, toilet seats, hand dryers, and fixtures to ensure hygiene.

    Clean mirrors to provide a clear and polished appearance. Replenish toilet tissue and soap as needed to ensure a continuous supply.

    Empty waste baskets and garbage cans, properly disposing of waste materials. Place garbage in outside storage bins for proper disposal.

    Clean entrances and exits, including glass, doors, and hardware, to maintain a welcoming appearance. Wash walls, doors, hardware, and glass to remove fingerprints and marks.

    Perform general maintenance tasks as assigned.

    Food Service Tasks : Set up, maintain, replenish, and break down beverage stations to provide accessible refreshments.

    Manage the salad bar by setting up, maintaining, replenishing, and breaking down items. Keep dining tables clean and sanitized, fill dessert cases, and ensure cleanliness.

    Set up the scullery by preparing dishwashing equipment and cleaning utensils and dishes. Manage serving lines by setting up, replenishing, and maintaining them, as well as serving meals.

    • Recycling and Sustainability : Collect and manage recycling bins located throughout the facility. Transport recyclable materials to the recycling center for proper disposal.
    • Documentation and Record Keeping : Maintain accurate records of completed work to track tasks and responsibilities.
    • Security and Access Control : Ensure the security of designated locations by opening, closing, locking, and unlocking facilities as needed.
    • Compliance and Safety : Adhere to safety procedures and standards to ensure a safe working environment. Ensure compliance with food operation and cleanliness standards.

    What Qualifications Do I Need?

    • High School Degree or equivalent experience
    • Previous experience in custodial or facility maintenance roles is a plus.
    • Experience in food service and basic knowledge of food handling procedures is beneficial.
    • Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and equipment is advantageous.
