Mortgage Development Manager manages a team of mortgage lending specialists in developing customer relationships, promoting mortgage loan products, and attaining volume and profit goals. Ensures that application processing follows state, federal, and organizational policies and guidelines and that customers have accurate loan information and guidance about product options. Being a Mortgage Development Manager conducts team training on company products and services. Coaches team members to promote a sales culture, improve selling techniques, and meet goals. Additionally, Mortgage Development Manager monitors trends and developments in the real estate markets and changes to private and government-insured mortgages. Maintains relationships with a network of realtors, attorneys, CPAs, and other contacts to obtain referrals and facilitate the lending process. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Mortgage Development Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Mortgage Development Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • JOB SUMMARY

    This position assists Credit Union members with mortgage loan products and proactively solicits mortgage business from realtors, key community partners and members.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    May include any and/or all of the following:

    1. Actively listen and respond to member inquiries, suggestions, requests, and concerns.
    2. Recommend mortgage loan products to members and take applications.
    3. Proactively elevate mortgage business volume in the branch market by building rapport with key community leaders and real estate professionals; by employing systems for follow-up and process management; and by serving members in a manner that prompts them to promote and repeat business.
    4. Aggressively increase the volume of real estate lending business by building rapport with key real estate professionals; by employing systems for follow-up and process management; and by serving members in a manner that prompts them to promote and repeat business.
    5. Successfully register with NMLS annually.
    6. Successfully complete all applicable compliance training and testing.
    7. Work with VP, Mortgage Sales & Development and Assistant Manager, Sales & Development to identify trends, product enhancements and process improvements in order to capture a greater share of the business.
    8. Work with departmental personnel to ensure mortgage applications generated through business development activities are processed and closed effectively.
    9. Insure all regulatory and Investor requirements are met.
    10. Train and mentor other MDO’s on marketing and rapport building strategies.
    11. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Critical Development Experiences:

    Pursue opportunities for professional growth and development through training, education and self-study

    Successfully complete all applicable compliance training and testing

    Education and experience equivalent to:

    Experience with Federal Housing Authority FHA, Veterans Affairs VA, and Freddie Mac, construction loans, bridge loans and reverse mortgage loans

    Incumbents are required to maintain their registration active, and current, with the National Mortgage Licensing System throughout their employment

    REQUIREMENTS

    Regular attendance and timeliness are essential functions of this position. While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand for a significant period of time and perform functions that require manual dexterity. The employee must occasionally reach above or below normal body position, stoop or bend, and carry, lift or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. A normal range of hearing, vision, and speech are required to effectively work with co-employees and members.

    REGULATORY COMPLIANCE & CONFIDENTIALITY

    Follows regulatory and policy compliance requirements, which include those efforts in compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Regulations, Identity Theft Red Flags and other compliance related Policies. This position also requires maintaining confidentiality with regard to non-public information about our members and the Credit Union.

    This position requires registration on an annual basis with the NMLS registry.
