Role: To ensure that mortgage closing documentation and funding are accurate and complete. This position does require associate to be on-site (ELGA Headquarters, Grand Blanc MI)

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

20% - Performs pre-closing review of documentation needed to prepare closing package. Ensures all required closing documentation is present prior to preparing documents. Performs validation of loan data prior to preparing closing documents.

20% - Prepares loan closing package utilizing appropriate software. Ensures accuracy of all prepared closing documents.

15% - Ensures Compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations.

10% - Funds loans in accordance with the credit union's and secondary market partner's policies and procedures.

10% - Responsible for quality control tasks and audit responses for secondary market mortgages.

10% - Acts as a liaison and subject matter expert to external members, internal members and third party vendors.

10% - Acts as a back-up to the mortgage loan post closer.

5% - Performs other duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements:

1. To take full responsibility for your own success with no excuses and to add comments to performance management system on your accomplishments.
2. Complete pre-closing review and closing documents with 48 hours of request to close. Communicate any issues to the loan originator and/or closing agent and work with the appropriate individuals to resolve them.
3. Fund loans within appropriate time frame based on closing and/or disbursement date.
4. Upload documents required by secondary market partner and/or audit firm to designated system(s) within required time frames. Respond to quality audit requests within required time frames.
5. To meet established expectations of ELGA's Core Factors including but not limited to Accountability, Attitude, Communication, Competence, Continuous Improvement & Innovation and Relationship Building.
6. To support other associates and to take the initiative to offer help when needed.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: Mortgage experience or related preferred. Mortgage closing experience strongly preferred.

Education:
(1) A two year college degree or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program.

Interpersonal Skills:
Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.

Other Skills:
1.Must be registered with NMLS in accordance with the SAFE ACT.

2.Must be detail-oriented and organized with excellent communication skills. Must have strong computer skills. Must be able to manage time well with competing priorities. Must have strong critical thinking skills.
