    Do you have experience caring for museum collections? Have you ever wanted to dive more deeply into history and artifact research?

    John James Audubon State Park is in Henderson, Kentucky where the legendary artist and naturalist discovered his passion. At the heart of the park is a world class museum. The 1373-acre park offers recreational activities that include camping, golfing, fishing, and hiking. John James Audubon State Park opened in 1934 is comprised of six cottages’, 9-Hole golf course, picnic shelters, museum, nature center, hiking trails, lake, and campground.

    John James Audubon State Park is currently searching for a Museum Curator. This museum houses one of the largest collections of John James Audubon artwork and artifacts in the world. As our Curator, you will not only have the daily opportunity to work with the museum’s extensive collection, but you will also be encouraged to create new and effective ways to promote the collection to the public and generate further conservation and support.

    Whether it is leading a gallery tour and bringing John Audubon's complicated story to life or contacting conservators and scheduling routine maintenance and care of artifacts, this position offers a well-rounded experience of preservation, protection, and promotion of a world-class collection.

    Our ideal candidate has exceptional communication skills and a proficient knowledge base of museum collections management. Knowledge of John James Audubon is preferred, but not required. We are looking for an organized, creative individual to join our team and collaborate on special events, campaigns, and other endeavors to promote the museum and park.
    Minimum Requirements
    EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in museology or museum sciences OR a bachelor's degree in history, archaeology, anthropology or a related field which includes fifteen semester hours in museology or museum sciences.

    EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two years of experience in curatorship, conservatorship, management of a museum, or in the identification, cataloging, or research of artifacts.

    Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education in one of the above fields will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
