Museum Research Worker plans, organizes and conducts research in scientific, cultural, historical, or artistic fields for use in projects of sponsoring institution. May require a bachelor's degree in a related area and 2-4 years of experience. Being a Museum Research Worker is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. FACILITIES WORKER
  • Thorne Research Inc
  • SUMMERVILLE, SC FULL_TIME
  • POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for performing facilities services, grounds maintenance, and minor repairs of Thorne Research facilities.

    RESPONSIBILITIES – Satisfactorily performing and/or achieving the following Responsibilities are essential duties of the job. 

    • Performs facilities services tasks including furniture and event set-ups, and parts “running”. 
    • Completes minor repairs, painting, and small carpentry projects. 
    • Performs scheduled preventative maintenance tasks as assigned. 
    • Performs grounds maintenance tasks including snow/ice removal, leaf and litter removal, and minor exterior facilities repairs. 
    • Coordinates turf/landscape maintenance vendor tasks including mowing, trimming, pruning, weeding, planting, and mulching. 
    • Coordinates with contractors performing facility repairs. 
    • Has working knowledge of the Thorne facilities and maintenance equipment. Reports damage or potential problems with equipment, grounds, or facilities in a timely manner. 
    • Maintains work areas in a neat and efficient matter, assuring equipment and tools are properly stored after each project is completed. 
    • Keeps supervisor informed of project status and recognizes the need to ask for help in order to achieve goals. Understands and follows changes in procedures.
    • Arrives at work as scheduled, starts work at the beginning of a shift, is on time to meetings, arrives back from lunch and breaks on time, completes assigned tasks in a timely manner, and works overtime as required. 
    • Demonstrates initiative and job knowledge by suggesting ideas, discovering new and better ways of accomplishing goals and finds innovative, well thought-out solutions to problems. 
    • Knows and follows the Maintenance Department policies and procedures and Thorne Research policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. 
    • Seeks formal and informal performance assessments of self, including performance versus expectations and goals, behaviors, and leadership potential.

    • Experience and/or Education: By training, education and/or experience, employee must be able to perform the essential duties of the job. Minimum 2 years of related experience is required. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
