The City of Lenexa Parks & Recreation department is currently accepting applications for our Docent - Legler Barn position. This position will know Johnson County and Lenexa's history and have the ability to operate POS systems.
The working hours for this position are Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Position Summary
The Docent – Legler Barn serves as the primary person for daily museum operations, speaks with and educates the public about the Legler Barn Museum/Train Depot as well as local and regional history. Work involves answering phone and voicemail, cleaning and caring for artifacts, greeting and guiding visitors and providing daily reports to the Recreation Supervisor.
Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities
Qualifications
Minimum: High school diploma or G.E.D.; two years of customer service experience and satisfactory credit history.
Desired: Experience with local and regional history, museum environments, guiding tours and working with children and seniors.
Environment and Physical Factors
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. This position requires good physical condition including the ability to walk and climb stairs; the ability to sit for prolonged periods; and the ability to lift objects weighing up to approximately 50 lbs.
Compensation
Hourly rate of pay is $15.50 – $17.12 per hour dependent on qualifications and directly related experience.
Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check.
