  • POSITION SUMMARY:

    The IT Network Administrator role at Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” and “Company”) is responsible for the successful operation and availability of all production networks and network services leveraged by the business. As a subject matter expert within the networking team, this role will manage and maintain the configuration of existing network components such as switches, routers, firewalls and access points as well as participate in the design and implementation of new networking architectures. When networking issues arise beyond the service desk capabilities, the IT Network Administrator role will partner with necessary support services to identify and resolve all incidents quickly and effectively.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage and maintain all production network equipment servicing the Company by configuring, patching and monitoring switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
    • Manage and maintain global infrastructure monitoring software tools that audit all IT infrastructure components for availability and provide historical views of health stats and uptime.
    • Maintain vendor relationships by on-boarding, dispatching and auditing third party networking support services such as break-fix, preventative maintenance and wiring installation.
    • Work with procurement team members to ensure vendor account balances are current and healthy and services provided Company-wide are not at risk of interruption.
    • Work with internet service providers to order and provision new connectivity services for all OSJL locations including, but not limited to, corporate and retail sites.
    • Resolve incidents and fulfill service catalog requests that are escalated beyond service desk capabilities via our centralized ITSM software.
    • Maintain meticulous organization, prioritizing and tracking tasks across diverse projects to deliver consistent progress updates and prevent oversights.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Associate’s Degree in computer networking or comparable structured training while on the job is preferred.
    • 5 or more years of experience working in a mid-size or large IT organization is required.
    • Mastery of networking fundamentals and experience applying it in network troubleshooting scenarios are required.
    • Knowledge of DNS, DHCP and other networking support services used in enterprise environments is required.
    • Ability to understand and create standards driven networking diagrams and technical documentation is required.
    • Practical experience configuring network equipment including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless controllers and access points is required.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • Works primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety and health hazard
      potential. 
    • Works in an office environment remaining stationary at a desk, table, or computer workstation for extended periods of time. Frequently uses near vision for reading and computer tasks. 
    • Work may be completed outside of the Company locations. The role is responsible for setting up a professional and ergonomically safe work environment and must be available during working hours. While working remotely, the role will be required to have reliable Internet connection.

    The annual salary range for this position is between $65,000 - $75,000. Salary commensurates with experience.
