Overview

The Network Administrator is responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, improving, and securing the credit union’s network infrastructure. It is expected that this position will be involved with disaster recovery testing and travel to branches, ATM’s, and our disaster recovery site as required. The Network Administrator will be expected to design solutions consistent with established regulations and maintain an accurate inventory of equipment. They will be required to maintain configuration backups, forensic logging of mission critical systems, documentation of work, and accurate network diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Internet SupportEnsures that access to the Internet and uptime meets credit union standards. Troubleshoots outages and creates downtime reports for the computer incident response team. Monitors external websites for outages and works with all relevant parties to restore service at any hour. Administrates VPN access for remote users and ensures proper restrictions and access rules are applied according to policy.
• IP Telephony SupportActs as the primary contact and liaison for Shoretel System support. Troubleshoots issues surrounding Cisco QOS and ensures proper communications between telephone switches and servers.
• WAN/LAN SupportResponsible for maintaining network uptime according to credit union policy. Troubleshoots network outages and creates downtime reports for the computer incident response team. Responsible for maintaining a network communications disaster recovery plan and maintaining contacts with third party support providers.
• Network MonitoringMonitor and review logged network events, resolve errors, and report unusual findings.
• Backup and RecoveryConfirm the success of nightly back up processes. Maintain current copies of all switch, router, and other important network configurations.
• Network SecurityAdministration of credit union Internet routers, firewalls and intrusion detection systems. Acts as liaison to any network security vendors utilized by the credit union. Upgrade hardware and firmware as needed to remediate vulnerabilities. Compile a monthly report of outstanding network vulnerabilities and plans for remediation. Ensures proper updating of antivirus definitions and administrates internet filtering. Review firewall rules quarterly to detect unauthorized changes and identify potential vulnerabilities.
• Procedure Manual updatesUpdate the Information Technology Procedure Manual when procedures change and create new procedures for new processes. Maintain updated and accurate network diagrams for all branches departments and data centers.
• Inventory & Network DiagramsMaintain a current inventory of all users, access, network equipment, contract renewal dates, software versions, and replacement schedule. Maintain current network diagrams describing both LAN and WAN communications, as well as communication flows, identifying potential bottle necks and single points of failure.
• All other duties assigned

Qualifications

• Related degree from a Technical college or two or more years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must possess a current CCNA certification.
• Currently holds CCNP Route & Switch certification, or will obtain the certification within the first year of employment.
• Must be a licensed driver and have access to transportation for regular travel.

Physical Demands:

The associate will regularly lift and or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds.
