Network Engineer develops and deploys plans and designs of network systems that will meet an organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Conducts network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. Being a Network Engineer defines monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand. Troubleshoots network issues and develops appropriate solutions, resources, and deployment processes. Additionally, Network Engineer keeps informed of the latest technologies to enhance knowledge of networking hardware, software, and best practices. May be certified in vendor-specific products. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Network Engineer work is closely managed.     Overview of position:

    FEDITC is seeking a Journeyman Network Engineer to work at Cannon AFB, New Mexico. A United States Citizenship and an active TS/SCI DoD Security Clearance is required to be considered for this position.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Possesses and applies expertise on multiple complex work assignments.
    • Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks.
    • Operates with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems.
    • Contributes to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable.
    • Typical duties include:
      • Engineering enterprise data, voice and video networks
      • Establishing and operating network test facilities
      • Maintaining a secure transfer of data to multiple locations via internal and external networks
      • Working with vendors, the Government, carriers, and technical staff on network implementation, optimization and ongoing management
      • Providing high-level support and technical expertise in networking technology, including LAN/WAN hardware, switches, bridges and routers 

    Qualifications


    Experience/Skills:

    • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
    • Network engineers must be detail-oriented and have in-depth knowledge of networking hardware and software.
    • Extensive experience in areas such as network design and implementation, LAN/WAN interfacing, security, Internet protocols and TCP/IP, and server and network infrastructure is required.

     

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field

     

    Certification:

    • A professional certification, such as Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), also is highly desirable. 

     

    Clearance:

    • Active TS/SCI clearance is required.
    • Must be a US Citizen and pass a background check.
    • Maintain applicable security clearance(s) at the level required by the client and/or applicable certification(s) as requested by FEDITC and/or required by FEDITC’S Client(s)/Customer(s)/Prime contractor(s).
