The Network Administrator will maintain a reliable, secure, and efficient data communications network. The ideal candidate will be able to deploy, configure, maintain, secure, and monitor firewalls, switches, and all other network equipment to ensure smooth operation of agency information systems.
Duties:
A. Abide by the "Law Enforcement Code of Ethics".
B. Develop scalable and automated strategies for maintaining network infrastructure.
C. Conduct updates and expansions of network devices and equipment.
D. Perform the periodic maintenance of network systems, including security auditing.
E. Conduct capacity planning and give recommendations to ensure the continuing optimal performance of agency networks.
F. Design, install and support VoIP infrastructure and applications, including IP-PBXs, voice mails, call management systems and unified communications.
G. Manage agency wireless and video delivery infrastructure.
H. Support and troubleshoot all local and wide area networking connections, hardware, and software.
I. Secure agency network systems.
J. Assist in maintaining agency firewalls.
K. Assist in application design and implementation.
L. Create and maintain documentation related to installations and configurations.
M. Ensure network systems are providing appropriate information to centralized logging points and backup all network device configurations.
N. Perform other responsibilities as required.
JOB PREREQUISITES:
Bachelor’s degree in related field; or 2 years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Cisco, VMWare, Microsoft, CompTIA or equivalent certifications preferred.
Experience in administrating LAN/WAN networks, enterprise level Wi-Fi networks, firewalls, and Windows Server.
Working knowledge of physical LAN/WAN cabling standards and installation.
Demonstrated understanding of VPNs, network encryption, DMZ architecture, and secure remote access.
Strong working knowledge of network security procedures, tools, and hardware solutions required.
Must also have a working knowledge of DNS, DHCP and general communication protocols.
Experience deploying and supporting VoIP end points, including h.323 and SIP devices, as well as VoIP trunks and carrier SIP solutions.
Experience with Storage Area Networks preferred.
Must have experience in customer service.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Must be able to pass a criminal background and drug screening.
Flexibility to work extended hours, nights, and weekends.
