Conducts network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. Being a Network Engineer defines monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand. Troubleshoots network issues and develops appropriate solutions, resources, and deployment processes.     Location: New Orleans, LA

    Responsibilities: 
    • Configure and install software, switches, routers, firewalls and other network devices
    • Monitor network performance and integrity; utilize network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis toolsets
    • Resolve client issues and support tickets from the helpdesk, or internal tiered escalation requests
    • Automate tasks and monitor effectiveness
    • Mentor team members on technical issues
    • Create and test security measures (e.g., access authentication and disaster recovery)
    • Communicate with team leads, stakeholders and clients on status of deliverables
    • Maintain complete technical documentation
    • Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity, and scalability
    • Unpack, rack, cable, and power up all equipment
    • Manage time effectively and assist on projects without assistance
    • Ability to design, deploy, and troubleshoot small to medium size network and server infrastructures
    • Comprehend and execute tasks outlined by a statement of work or project plan
    • Work in a team environment and support other individuals in a primary or secondary role



    Requirements:
    • At least 5 years of experience working as a network engineer
    • Expert knowledge of enterprise level network design, engineering, and administration
    • Ability to quickly gain expertise in new technologies to fulfill customer requirements and develop creative solutions
    • Programming languages – Proficient in general-purpose scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python
    • 2 mid-level or 1 expert-level certification(s) from strategic vendors such as Extreme, Palo Alto, HPE, Cisco: Mid-level Examples: Palo Alto PCNSA, Extreme Certified Specialist, Aruba ACCP, ACMP. Expert-Level Examples: Cisco CCIE, Palo Alto PCNSE, Aruba ACCX/ACMX
    • The ability to solve problems within the network proactively and after they arise. The ability to use analytical skills to understand problem origination, apply a logical troubleshooting process to effectively solve the issue, determine root cause, and prevent it from recurring
    • The ability to explain technical issues to non-technical individuals, and the ability to build strong client relationships
    • The ability to mentor team members on technical issues
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
    • Expertise in core infrastructure services including:
      • Switching – VLANs, STP, LACP, MLAG
      • Routing – Static, OSPF, BGP, IEGRP
      • Wireless – 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax, Captive Portal, Channel Management
      • DHCP
      • DNS
      • 802.1x
      • LLDP, SNMP, Syslog, ACLs
    • Experience with 3 or more of the following skills:
      • Design and implementation of Extreme Networking Switching/Routing/Fabric
      • Design and implementation of Extreme Networking NAC/XMC
      • Design and implementation of Cisco Switching/Routing
      • Firewall migrations from SonicWall/ASA to Palo Alto/FortiGate
      • Design and implementation of Citrix NetScalers
      • Greenfield and brownfield deployments of ASA, FortiGate, or Palo Alto Firewalls
      • Design and implementation of Controller-based Wireless Solutions from Cisco, Aruba, or Extreme
      • Providing top level support for complex networking issues
      • Design and implementation of SDWAN solutions from vendors such as VeloCloud, Silver Peak, Palo Alto, Citrix, etc.
      • Design and implementation of 802.1x authentication both at a switching level and backend Microsoft PKI infrastructure
      • Provide top level support for troubleshooting Networking, Firewall, or Load Balancer issues
      • Design and implementation of monitoring solutions such as PRTG, LogicMonitor, or Solarwinds
      • Perform in-depth analysis of networking configurations and provide recommendations based on that analysis
    • Travel: 25-35% required. Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and ability to legally operate a motor vehicle.
