Job Description:
The IT Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting the organization's network infrastructure. This role involves ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and security of the network systems, which include local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), VoIP, Wi-Fi, and security camera systems. The IT Network Engineer will work closely with IT teams, security teams, and other departments to ensure seamless network operations and address any network-related issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Design & Implementation:
· Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN, VPN, VoIP, Wi-Fi).
· Configure and install network hardware, such as routers, switches, firewalls, VoIP systems, Wi-Fi access points, and security cameras.
· Optimize network performance by monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving issues related to bandwidth, connectivity, and security.
VoIP, Wi-Fi, and Camera Systems Management:
· Implement and manage VoIP systems, ensuring optimal call quality and service reliability.
· Design, deploy, and maintain Wi-Fi networks, ensuring coverage and performance across the organization.
· Install, configure, and maintain network-connected security cameras, ensuring reliable video capture and storage.
Network Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
· Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
· Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software network-related issues, including VoIP, Wi-Fi, and camera systems.
· Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including patches, hotfixes, and security configurations.
Security:
· Implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
· Manage firewall configurations and ensure compliance with security policies.
· Monitor and enforce network security protocols, including access controls, encryption, and other security best practices.
Documentation & Reporting:
· Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, processes, and procedures, including VoIP, Wi-Fi, and camera systems.
· Generate regular network performance reports for management review.
· Provide technical support and guidance to other IT team members.
Collaboration & Support:
· Collaborate with IT team members to develop and implement network projects.
· Provide support to end-users and other IT staff on network-related issues, including VoIP, Wi-Fi, and camera systems.
· Liaise with vendors and service providers to maintain and troubleshoot external network connections.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
· Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
· 2 years of experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar role.
Technical Skills:
· Proficiency in network administration and support, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, VoIP, Wi-Fi, and camera systems.
· Hands-on experience with networking equipment such as Sonicwall, Fortinet, Ubiquiti, Netgear, TP-Link, Meraki, etc.
· Strong knowledge of network protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, TCP/IP).
· Familiarity with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds).
· Experience with network security practices and technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPNs.
