Network Engineering Manager manages and implements the plans, designs, and development of all aspects of network systems that will meet an organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Identifies network requirements for hardware, software, and services that will provide optimal solutions and meet the capacity requirement for the organization. Being a Network Engineering Manager conducts network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. Develops monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand. Additionally, Network Engineering Manager keeps abreast with the latest technologies and best practices and utilizes vendors and providers to provide additional resources to support networks. May be certified or has deep knowledge of vendor-specific products. Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Network Engineering Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Network Engineering Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Summit is looking for a strong leader to drive network plans, designs, and develop all aspects of network systems that will meet the company’s requirements. This role will lead a group of professionals who design, plan, test, and deploy technologies for Summit Broadband. As the service landscape transforms for Internet, Video, Voice, and Business services the team will focus adapting its processes, tools, and people to be more effective and efficient. The Director of Network Architecture and Engineering will lead various technology adoptions and manage the lifecycle of existing solutions.

    Location: Orlando, FL 


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:


    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Drive network requirements for hardware, software, and services that will provide optimal solutions
    • Direct network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies.
    • Develops monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to change in demand
    • Keep abreast with the latest technologies and best practices and utilizes vendors to provide additional resources to support networks
    • Deep knowledge of vendor -specific products
    • Drive vendor management program for infrastructure platforms
    • Create functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support functional infrastructure
    • Lead and manage a technical team of architects and engineers responsible for technology roadmap and lifecycle management 
    • Responsibility for all hiring, on-boarding, development, and performance management for team.
    • Manage relationships and drive cross-functional collaboration with stakeholders, vendors, and partner teams
    • Drive operational excellence through process, procedures, tooling, training and effective management of KPIs
    • Use dashboards and metrics to easily articulate problem areas and quickly identify areas for improvements
    • Establish and improve deployment standards and best practices to drive consistency, quality and efficiency
    • Responsibility for quality deployment plans that have been tested
    • Input to Product Development


    Qualifications 


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 10 years of experience leading technical teams responsible for deploying and operating large-scale network infrastructure
    • Experience managing geographically distributed teams of architects and engineers
    • Experience with leadership development and developing and implementing organizational strategy
    • Experience with process improvement and automation to streamline repetitive workflows
    • Experience  with vendor management
    • Experience with executive scorecards
    • Experience delivering projects
    • Experience with OSS environments
    • Experience with Software Define Networking
    • Experience with Content Delivery Networks
    • Experience with Service Orchestration Platforms
    • Experience engaging, influencing, and leading peers, stakeholders and vendors
    • Experience working with managed service providers and contractors

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's  degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Engineering or Telecommunications, etc.)
    • 10  years experience
    • Experience working in data centers and/or service provider networks
    • Working knowledge of PON, XGS-PON, Remote Phy technologies
    • Working  knowledge of service architectures e.g. Voice, Video, Commercial
    • Working knowledge IP networking 
    • Working knowledge of OSS environments
    • Working knowledge of Network Management Systems
    • Experience working in a multi-vendor network environment
