Network Engineering Manager manages and implements the plans, designs, and development of all aspects of network systems that will meet an organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Identifies network requirements for hardware, software, and services that will provide optimal solutions and meet the capacity requirement for the organization. Being a Network Engineering Manager conducts network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. Develops monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand. Additionally, Network Engineering Manager keeps abreast with the latest technologies and best practices and utilizes vendors and providers to provide additional resources to support networks. May be certified or has deep knowledge of vendor-specific products. Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Network Engineering Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Network Engineering Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Summary:

    The Journey Network Administrator is responsible for the maintenance, monitoring, and support of data networks and related network equipment. The position seeks to ensure the uptime, performance, resources, & security of the networks managed, including local, wireless, and wide area networks.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Administering the operation of all LAN/WAN-related network services according to Government policies and procedures
    • Coordinating and implementing network software and hardware upgrades
    • Troubleshooting and resolving LAN/WAN performance, connectivity, and related network problems
    • Administering LAN/WAN security, antivirus, and spam control measures
    • The Government may require Candidates to be on call 24/7 in case of network failures or emergencies.
    • Possesses and applies expertise on multiple complex work assignments.
    • Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks.
    • Operates with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems.
    • Contributes to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable.

     

    Qualifications

    Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

    • Needs solid technical skills and experience with a variety of network 41 protocols, software, and hardware involved in LAN and WAN operations.
    • Requires strong troubleshooting, analytic and diagnostic skills, along with good communication abilities.

     

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field
    • 3 -5 years of related experience
    • Extensive experience in areas such as network design and implementation, LAN/WAN interfacing, security, Internet protocols and TCP/IP, and server and network infrastructure is required.
    • MUST have and ACTIVE Top Secret clearance with eligibility for access to SCI.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with network design, installation, and configuration
    • Experience with network monitoring tools
