    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Network Operations Technician - Repair (NOC Ops) to join our operations team. This position focuses on carrying out repair and maintenance tasks on network devices within our Network Operations Center (NOC). You will work closely with NOC Operations Specialists who provide you with repair tasks and escalations, ensuring that network devices are promptly repaired and restored to normal operation. Additionally, you will collaborate with the racking and stacking teams on projects involving device bring-ups.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO:

    • Receive repair tasks and escalations from NOC Operations Specialists and prioritize them based on urgency and impact.
    • Troubleshoot and diagnose network device issues, such as switches, routers, and firewalls, using industry-standard methodologies and tools.
    • Perform hands-on repairs, including hardware replacements, module upgrades, and firmware updates on network devices.
    • Coordinate with equipment vendors for warranty repairs and replacements, including managing device Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs).
    • Collaborate with the racking and stacking teams to ensure successful device installations and bring-ups during projects.
    • Follow established repair processes and ensure adherence to quality standards and service level agreements (SLAs).
    • Document repair activities, including problem descriptions, actions taken, and resolutions, in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Maintain inventory of spare parts and equipment and ensure they are properly tracked and organized.
    • Provide feedback and suggestions for process improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality.

    WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

    • Associate degree or certification in a relevant technical discipline, or equivalent work experience.
    • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in troubleshooting and repairing network devices, such as switches, routers, and firewalls.
    • Solid understanding of network protocols, including TCP/IP, routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), and LAN/WAN technologies.
    • Proficiency in network troubleshooting methodologies and tools, including packet capture analysis using Wireshark, tcpdump, or similar tools.
    • Familiarity with SNMP-based monitoring and alert systems to identify network device issues.
    • Basic knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation and tool development is a plus.
    • Industry certifications such as CCNA or similar network certifications are preferred.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to resolve network device issues promptly.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with NOC Operations Specialists, racking and stacking teams, and other team members.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to frequently exert force equivalent to lifting up to approximately 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
    • Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and more than 20 inches, and ability to adjust focus.
    • Three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships.
    • Ability to identify colors and give and receive information through speaking and listening skills.
    • Regular requirements to sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Frequent need to stand and walk; occasional need to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend.
