The LSU Healthcare Network is made up of over 175 healthcare providers – from primary care to specialty care – at several multi-specialty care locations in and around the Greater New Orleans area.

    The Practice Manager provides leadership in planning, guiding and coordinating practice operations for LSUHN. The primary responsibilities of this position are supervision of all practice staff (excluding providers), and managing and coordinating the development and implementation of policies and procedures as they relate to customer service.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Oversees and manages administrative functions within assigned office or division.
    • Courteously and professionally greet and communicate with patients, providers, and LSUHN staff at all times.

    • Manages the day to day operations of a physician practice.
    • Serves as a working supervisor to assist other staff in the day-to-day operations.
    • Assists with developing specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
    • Manages staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction and conflict management.
    • Performs and oversees scheduling, recruitment, and payroll.
    • Oversee proper inventory of student health and primary care vaccinations with aid of clinical staff
    • Monitor with clinical staff the proper student health paperwork that is needed to meet documentation criteria outlined by Student Health Director
    • Direct employees to meet all mandatory HR requirements
    • Assures employee evaluations are completed in a timely manner and appropriate goals are set for all staff supervised.
    • Monitors departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts and vendor relations
    • Determines and justifies needs for systems/equipment/supplies purchases, monitors usage, and oversees proper working order and/or stock supplies.
    • Supports special projects and business analysis as requested

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Capable of supervising Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Medical Assistants (MAs) and clerical staff.


    Requirements

    EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

    • Undergraduate Degree in Healthcare, Business Administration, or similar discipline preferred. Extensive multi-disciplinary healthcare leadership experience may be taken into consideration in lieu of degree.
    • 2-3 years of progressively-responsible, hospital or clinical management experience required 
    • EPIC experience strongly desired.
    • Student Health and primary care clinic management experience preferred

    • Strong interpersonal skills and effective telephone skills
    • Strong level of confidentiality due to the sensitivity of materials and information handled.
    • Ability to work independently and be self-directed and flexible.

    • Required to work in excess of 40 hours per week if necessary.
    • Capable of working and remaining calm in a stressful environment.
    • Capable of maintaining a safe and professional environment for co-workers and patients.
