Based in Scottsdale, Arizona, Nations Group is a nationally recognized owner’s representation and project management firm with a history of successful projects in the higher education, sports and entertainment. Nations Group was started in 2008 and has grown into a unique team of professionals, who combined have decades of experience in all aspects of multi- faceted facility development projects and solid, trusted relationships within the design and construction industry across the country.The National Design and Preconstruction Manager will provide design management and preconstruction support for a number of high-profile College Sports projects across the country. This position will also work closely with other Nations Group team members in managing all aspects of the project.
This position will play a lead role in the successful execution of the project. This position will lead the design phase to ensure projects are designed to fit within the allowable budget.
The reporting structure to this position will be a direct line to the Vice President of Design.
REQUIREMENTS:- Manage contract personnel, including (but not limited to) project architects, engineers, general contractors, sub-contractors, sign contractors, governmental personnel and inspectors, and other stakeholders during preconstruction
- Oversee and direct communication with clients, company executives, and project staff
- Review and comment on preconstruction estimates
- Work closely with the pre-development phase team and VPO of Operations to ensure design deadlines are met
- Track and manage all budget management items
- Ensure the design team is receiving the appropriate design direction and decisions from the client
- Review and coordinate the design teams contract and appropriate additional services
- Work with our design partners to develop processes and procedures to ensure projects are designed to budget
- Direct and oversee entitlement and governmental approval processes.
- Manage and oversee the preparation of project documents, including conceptual plans, designdevelopment plans, construction documents, grading and drainage plans, utility plans, paving plans, and landscape plans
- Facilitate, track, and report on project communications and meetings to ensure coordination of project tasks and responsibilities
- Work with our project management team to identify, solicit, and purchase of furniture, fixtures,and equipment as required or as determined by the project documents
- Monthly travel (2-3 days) to the Nations Group home office in Scottsdale, Arizona will be required
EXPERIENCE:- Ten (10) to Fifteen (15) years as an architect with design and project management experience
- Experience managing the design of event centers, sports stadiums/arenas or projects of similar use, size, and scope
- Demonstrated skills in managing successful projects, including budgets and timelines, and the ability to produce documents that adhere to the project budget
- Solid comfort level with independently learning, implementing, and utilizing new technology and software programs
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent time management, documentation, communication, organization, calendar and meeting management and personal effectiveness skills, as well as solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Zoom/videoconferencing programs, and project management tools
- Ability to respond effectively and diplomatically to sensitive issues
- Outstanding internal and external customer service skills
- Sports experience is preferred
- Relocation to Scottsdale AZ is preferred, but flexible with the right candidate
