Family Service League is seeking a full-time Assistant Program Director for a homeless shelter in Smithtown. The Assistant Program Director will be responsible for overseeing the Case Management Department, Evening Supervisor, Weekend Supervisor, and Transportation Workers. Working alongside the Program Director, the Assistant Program Director will develop, implement, track, report, and evaluate measurable outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• The Assistant Program Director will oversee staff, including recruiting, hiring, training, developing, and conducting supervision and performance appraisals. 
• Oversight of all client incidents and necessary follow-up; including completion and submission of Serious Incident Reports to DSS and OTDA.
• Assists with oversight of unit inspections and utilization review.
• Work cooperatively with others to set goals, resolve problems and make decisions to enhance organizational effectiveness.
• Collaborate with the security team to discuss and resolve client or staff incidents.
• Determine strategies to move the program forward, set goals, create action plans, and evaluate the process and results. 
• The Assistant Program Director will plan, interpret, and document all policies and procedures for staff. 
• Conducts case conferences to provide additional support to at-risk clients. 
• Work collaboratively with SCDSS housing liaison.
• The Assistant Program Director will ensure agency compliance with the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).
• Participates in a rotating on-call schedule with the Evening Supervisor, Monday through Friday, including covering shifts when needed. Responsible for on-call weekend coverage as necessary.
• Act as Program Director when needed. 
• Set and observe appropriate boundaries with clients; observe client confidentiality and HIPPA protocols.
• Advocate for client needs.
• Work collaboratively with members of a larger treatment or service coordination team, both within the agency and the larger community.
• All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field required. 

Master’s degree preferred. LMSW is a plus. 

Minimum of 4 years of experience working in emergency housing or related field preferred.

Minimum of 4 years of management experience required.

Excellent organizational, leadership, and time-management skills required. 

Thorough knowledge of the Suffolk County Department of Social Services preferred.

Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office required. HMIS is a plus.

Valid and clean NYS Driver’s License required.
