The Network Engineering Manager is responsible for developing and overseeing the organization’s network engineering team and network and firewall solutions and supervises the network engineering staff. They ensure the organization meets all of the network security and firewall requirements best practices and standards. Their duties include creating and maintaining policies and procedures, conducting audits, and staying current with network and firewall trends.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for technology vision and planning for network and firewall solutions.
• Ensures adherence to cybersecurity standards, industry standards, and best practices to meet business objectives and requirements.
• Acts as primary contact/project manager for then network engineering team.
• Provides network security analysis and administration. This also includes in-depth knowledge of firewalls, routers and switches.
• Network administration and development including cloud-based architecture.
• Develops and maintains network and disaster recovery plan in event of power failure, damage to systems/facilities, etc.
• Regularly evaluates existing technologies, systems, and assists with staffing determinations.
• Participates in solution and technology assessments and recommends changes.
• Manages high availability physical and virtual environment administration and development.
• Oversees network architecture tasks including configuration of solutions and troubleshooting issues.
• Collaborating with other IT teams and business stakeholders during project in engagement.
• Communicate effectively with non-technical executives and staff.
• Report immediately all suspicious and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
• Understand and observe all safety guidelines and assure quality and safety by complying with all appropriate CB policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate the following competencies:
• CCNP certification, or equivalent preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of designing networks.
• Experience with networking equipment such as firewalls, routers, and switches.
• Experience with design and implementation of complex network infrastructure.
• In depth understanding of network infrastructure and related hardware.
• Network routing & switching (Layers 1-4) and working knowledge of the OSI model.
• Modern protocols, (i.e.TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, SDWAN).
• Wireless networks.
• VPN and VLAN.
• Network and Server Virtualization.
• Micro segmentation.
• Load balancing.
• Ability to write and read English.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, information systems, computer science or related field (master’s degree a plus) preferred
• 10 years’ experience in related field
• Proven experience successfully leading teams
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manages the Network Engineering team providing direction and support to remove barriers and achieve established goals
• Develop and supervise employees and vendors to accomplish the mission.
• Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems, in accordance with Click Bond policies and applicable law.
