    Role Summary

    You will be a key contributor to the battery test team in Normal, IL providing the necessary support with the validation current and next generation of high voltage battery systems. In this role you will work closely with test and validation engineers to design and execute test plans and schedules. You will work in a state-of-the-art battery lab where you will use your creativity to design test methods. This role will also be responsible for sourcing and the coordination of equipment calibration for the lab making sure things are operational and ready for usage. This role will be located at our Normal, IL battery test facility and reports directly to the battery test manager.


    Responsibilities

    • Support the execution of various battery module and pack system tests
    • Participate in design of tests and validation assessments and support development of detailed test outlines and methods
    • Provide detailed reports documenting all findings and conclusions.
    • Instrument cells, modules, and packs for special testing working with battery assembly lines to build instrumented modules/packs. Occasionally travel between locations to support special instrumentation assignments
    • Perform calibration and maintenance of instrumentation, test measurement and diagnostic equipment to support the testing requirements of team
    • Work with lab logistics coordinator to schedule and maintain equipment calibration
    • Serve as resource to team on troubleshooting equipment, calibration and measurement
    • Setup and Calibration - Ensure all test equipment and associated software is functioning properly. Includes building complex test circuitry
    • Speak up for safety issues and read across activities for actions and cases
    • Manage third party resources (external labs, consultants, etc) to fulfill delegated work packages including statement of work development, scope management, reports.
    • Maintain accurate and thorough records of all procedures performed

    Qualifications

    • 2-year technical degree in electrical or mechanical technology field
    • Minimum 4 years automotive or battery experience in related field
    • Familiarity with a variety of instrumentation including pressure transducers, flow gauges, thermistors, thermocouples, and strain gauges
    • Demonstrated knowledge of automated battery test equipment and test methods preferred
    • Experience with configuring and testing battery management circuits / systems preferred
    • A wide range of experience with automotive test tools such as Vector CANoe/CANape, Tracetronic ECU-Test, Vehicle SPI preferred
    • Knowledge of lab instruments: DMM, Oscilloscope, debugger, HIL operation preferred
    • Prior experience working with high voltage systems preferred
    • Knowledge of vehicle standards ISO15767, ISO14229, ISO13400 preferred
    • Familiarity with DFSS or DRM tools (such as VOC, FMEA, 5-Why, 8-D) preferred
    • High energy and self-motivated
    • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
    • Strong technical communication skills (written and verbal)
    • Strong electrical ability.
    • ~20% Domestic and/or International Travel
