About the Job: Our experts are responsible for integrated weapon system management, from inception to retirement. As a Nuclear Hardness Electrical Engineer, you will work on a high-performing team to provide electrical and systems engineering, technical, and administrative expertise to the government to maintain their nuclear hardness program in accordance with requirements detailed in Department of Defense, United States Strategic Command, and Air Force directives, manuals and instructions, ensuring the weapon system remains a reliable and effective nuclear deterrent. Nuclear hardness is defined as the ability of a system or any of its elements to withstand exposure to one or more effects of a hostile nuclear environment. A qualified candidate for the Nuclear Hardness Electrical Engineer job will:
    • Perform professional technical analysis or design reviews on one or more complex components or functional systems of products requiring the full use and wide application of established engineering principles, theories, concepts, and precedents in the field plus a working knowledge of other related disciplines.
    • Learn the fundamentals of the fielded weapon system and nuclear hardness requirements. Continuously improve that knowledge in order to apply it to technical analyses and design reviews.
    • Update Hardness Data Manuals (HDMs) and Design Analysis Reports (DARs) to consider the impacts of weapon system modifications and civil engineering additions on the overall nuclear hardness of the weapon system, to reflect how design elements are intended to meet the nuclear hardness requirements, and to accurately reflect the current state of the weapon system. Additionally ensure all changes are reviewed, approved, coordinated and delivered with proper stakeholder integration.
    • Reconcile HDM requirements, incorporating into the HDMs the updates already reflected in the technical baseline defined by engineering drawings, Engineering Orders (EOs), Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), or other technical data. Additionally capture, and provide to the Government, situations where drawings associated with HDM and DAR updates require revision, and prepare EOs and ECPs as needed to complete the revisions.
    • Devise new techniques and approaches and provide solutions to a wide range of technical problems by drawing on their own areas of technical specialty and consulting with other engineering specialists for technologies where they do not have in-depth expertise.
    • Review and coordinate work with other team members to ensure progress is maintained to achieve specified aims; prepare data for reports on technical findings, recommendations, accomplishments and progress measured against specific plans; perform assignments as required by contractual agreements.
    • Attend conferences and meetings to represent assigned activity. Develop working group meeting agendas, prepare and consolidate briefing materials, provide meeting minutes, and draft answers to action items assigned by other agencies or organizations.
    • Review and provide assessment and assistance to programs on Nuclear Hardness, Electromagnetic Interference / Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMI/EMC), shielding applications, Technical Order changes, and Engineering Technical Analysis Requests.
    • Author and publish white papers, formal analyses, and briefing materials to document engineering-based rationales to inform decision-makers in support of recommendations to our customer.
    • Complete other duties as assigned by the Nuclear Hardness and Survivability Section Lead.
This Nuclear Hardness Electrical Engineer job is located at Hill Air Force Base, Utah and is currently permitted to be 50% hybrid telework but requires the ability to come on-site when required to access classified materials or respond to customer needs.
