Nurse Practitioner - Ambulatory Care jobs in District of Columbia

Nurse Practitioner - Ambulatory Care works in collaboration with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to manage care for patients in an ambulatory care setting. Orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physicians. Being a Nurse Practitioner - Ambulatory Care prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment. Assesses patient condition and may provide treatment using specialized medical equipment. Additionally, Nurse Practitioner - Ambulatory Care works in outpatient settings, responding to high patient volumes in short-term spans and dealing with unpredictable situations and issues. Follows established guidelines and protocols. Requires a master's degree. Requires Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP). Requires Registered Nurse (RN).     Qualifications:
    - Valid nursing license in the state of

    - Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably in psychiatric or mental health settings
    - Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders, treatments, and medications
    - Excellent assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills
    - Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
    - Compassionate and empathetic approach towards patients with mental health conditions

    Skills:
    - Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
    - Knowledge of sonography techniques for diagnostic purposes
    - Proficiency in utilizing electronic medical record systems such as Cerner
    - Familiarity with sterile processing procedures in healthcare settings
    - Understanding of pain management strategies for individuals with psychiatric conditions
    - Experience working with children in a psychiatric setting
    - Knowledge of utilization review processes for insurance authorization
    - Ability to handle emergency situations in an ER setting
    - Proficient in taking and interpreting vital signs accurately
