Additionally, Nurse Practitioner - Cardiac requires a master's degree. Requires Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Nurse Practitioner role needed in a post-operative patient population cardiac unit positioned in the Advanced Heart Failure Unit at Barnes Jewish Hospital. Patient population includes ventricular Assist Devices (VADs). The Nurse Practitioner will work in close collaboration with Cardiac Surgeons in a fast-paced environment. At the Washington University and Barnes-Jewish Heart & Vascular Center, our heart surgeons are pioneers in breakthroughs for heart disease treatment. Our expertise in minimally invasive and surgical procedures is unmatched in Missouri and the surrounding region.
Cardiac nursing is an incredibly intensive environment; nurses are on the frontline of saving lives every day. Barnes-Jewish is one of only 17 hospitals, and the only one in Missouri, with heart attack survival rates better than the national average.
OverviewBarnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. The Heart and Vascular Administration department supports the structure for the Heart and Vascular Program and drives the strategic goals and priorities.
Preferred QualificationsRole Purpose
The Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice nurse who utilizes a high degree of knowledge, skill and competence in a specialized patient care area. This position assesses, diagnose, prescribes, initiates plan of care and evaluates outcomes within the scope of a formal collaborative practice agreement with physician(s).
Responsibilities
- Participates in professional development
- Manages the health care of patient populations with compassion through advanced health assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician. Prescriptive responsibilities are reviewed by collaborative physician.
- Coordinates the care of patient populations, in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician, to ensure promotion of health and wellness through education of patients and families, coordination of services and placing referrals.
- Assesses development needs of staff and develops and delivers appropriate educational programs to meet staff needs.
- Develops treatment plans, treats patients with acute problems including illnesses and minor injuries following a predetermined protocol in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician.
