Nurse Practitioner - Emergency Room works in collaboration with a physician to assess the physical needs of patients admitted to the emergency room. Orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physicians. Being a Nurse Practitioner - Emergency Room prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment. Requires a master's degree. Additionally, Nurse Practitioner - Emergency Room requires Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically reports to a physician. Nurse Practitioner - Emergency Room's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. The provider's responsibilities in this position include:
Responsible for complete care to patients in the ED including treatment and referral for treatment of acute/chronic, medical conditions and documentation of the same.
Responsible for evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and referrals using available technologies and therapeutics common to the ED, i.e. lab test, imaging, and electrocardiograms.
Procedures common to the ED and primary care may also be performed by the NP/PA.
