Nurse Practitioner - Neonatal works in collaboration with a physician to assess the physical needs of newborn patients. Provides care for newborns and infants in a neonatal setting. Being a Nurse Practitioner - Neonatal orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physicians. Prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment. Additionally, Nurse Practitioner - Neonatal requires a master's degree. Typically reports to a physician. Requires Certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) in specialty area based on RN licensure and state authority for advanced practice.     MEDNAX is seeking a neonatal nurse practitioner to join our well-established practice of 9 neonatologists and 7 NNPs, in Knoxville, Tennessee.

    Responsibilities

     

    • East Tennessee Children’s Hospital is a busy 60-bed, Level-III NICU
    • Our average daily census of 50 and a new state-of-the art unit 
    • Responsibilities include caring for babies in the NICU and Newborn Nursery
    • There are approximately 7,000 deliveries per year and the hospital provides strong pediatric subspecialty support
    • Services provided include high frequency ventilation and nitric oxide 
    • 8 hour shifts; 24 hour shifts are possible

     

     

     

    Qualifications

    • Must have a minimum of a Master's Degree in Nursing
    • National Nursing Certification Required
    • TN license required
    • Local candidates preferred
