Additionally, Nurse Practitioner - Orthopedic requires Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.     Hours: Mon. - Fri. w/ call hours | No Supervisory Responsibilities | No Travel | Pay commensurate with experience


    JOB SUMMARY:

     

    The team member will provide patient care in the outpatient physician practice, surgical services, inpatient services, and while providing on call services. The team member will practice safety behaviors, utilize error prevention tools and strategies to ensure a safe, remarkable patient experience.


    MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:


    Education:  Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program.

     

    Experience:   One to three years of experience working in a physician practice setting- preferred


    License/Certifications: 

    • Certified with National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), Initial Certification and meet the regulations of NC Board of Medical Examiners, OR Nurse Practitioner meeting regulations of North Carolina Board of Nursing.
    • Current ACLS and BLS Certification.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


    1. Team member should demonstrate competencies such as orthopedic assessment, surgical assistance, patient education, wound care, fracture management, radiological interpretation, and proficiency in orthopedic equipment and procedures.
    2. Performs comprehensive and problem focused history and physical exams, Reviews patient records. Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed. Formulates treatment plans within scope of practice. Exercises judgment on care requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by the supervising Orthopaedic Surgeon or other health care professionals.
    3. Conducts inpatient and postoperative rounds.
    4. Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
    5. Performs procedures within competency and scope of practice.
    6. Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within competency and scope of practice..
    7. Provides surgical assistance within competency and scope of practice.
    8. Orders, prescribes, dispenses, and administers medication, orthosis, orthotics, braces, and other Orthopaedic devices within scope.
    9. Evaluate, screen and council patient on health maintenance and promote utilization of community resources.
    10. Participates in practice call and unassigned call.
    11. Professional Development: Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations. Attends required meetings and participates in practice activities as requested
    12. Teamwork and Communication: Works within a team to achieve patient and team goals. Shares and initiates regular and professional communication with co-workers. Participates in regular team member meetings. Identifies opportunities to improve processes based on feedback from team members and patients. Monitors quality of core process in department. Collaborates with other departments and disciplines to achieve desired outcomes.
    13. Other duties as assigned.

     

    Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (i.e., flu shot, etc.).
