Provides direct care and follow-up for patients in surgical care units. Being a Nurse Practitioner - Surgical orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physicians. Prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment. Additionally, Nurse Practitioner - Surgical requires a master's degree. FT pre-admit nurse M-F 8-4:30
The Registered Nurse assumes responsibility for the pre-admission assessment and obtains information for the anesthesia evaluation of the Surgical patient. This includes obtaining health history and pre-procedure clearance and test results from the physician’s office. Information is reviewed on certain patients as indicated per admission criteria with the Medical Director/ designee or the onsite anesthesiologist to achieve positive patient outcomes.
Education:Completion of an approved nursing program, as evident by current RN or LPN licensure.
Experience:LPN- 10 years’ experience including, but not limited to clinical nursing experience on a med-surg, ortho, tele, or LTAC unit. RN- 7 years’ experience including, but not limited to clinical nursing experience on a med-surg, ortho, tele, ICU or LTAC unit: Pre-admit experience preferred.
Licenses/Certificates:Current Louisiana RN or LPN license; BLS, ACLS & certifications required.
