Nursing Director administers the nursing program in a hospital, nursing home, or other medical facility to maintain standards of patient care. Advises medical staff, department heads, and administrators in matters related to nursing service. Being a Nursing Director recommends establishment or revision of policies and develops organizational structure and standards of performance. Interprets policies and objectives of nursing service to staff and community groups. Additionally, Nursing Director requires an advanced degree of nursing. Typically reports to top management. Requires RN license. The Nursing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Nursing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Job Summary:


    Livingston Health and Rehabilitation Center is looking for a Director of Nursing (DNS) to manage the day-to-day operations, activities and success of the resident care staff.

    Validates that the Nursing Department continues to develop and maintain high standards for excellence.


    Essential Functions:
    Develops and maintains a nursing service philosophy, objectives, standards of practice, policy and process manuals.
    Establishes systems for care planning, including assessments, plan of treatment, objectives and goals, evaluations and discharge planning.
    Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, hiring, disciplining, coaching, and conducting performance appraisals
    Demonstrates an understanding and knowledge of certification laws and requirements, survey requirements and Medicare program.
    Validates that reporting departments consistently meet state and federal requirements for long-term care facilities for licensure. Validates existence of a quality assurance program for nursing services and coordinates interdisciplinary quality assurance program.
    Directs the functions and activities of the ED in his/her absence.

    Education, Licensure, and Experience:

    Required:
    Current Registered Nursing license in Montana


    Preferred:

    Bachelors Degree in Nursing


    Preferred:

    Certification in Rehab Nursing, geriatrics, or psychiatric nursing

    Preferred:

    Minimum two years' experience as a nursing services supervisor in a long-term care.
