Longleaf Neuro-Medical Treatment Center (LLNTC), located in Wilson, NC, is a state-operated certified Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). With a staff of about 520, LLNTC provides support to approximately 200 residents with complex medical needs and/or co-existing neuro-cognitive disorders.
The Director is the senior administrator for the facility. Reporting to the Assistant Director of State Operated Healthcare Facilities, this position is responsible for total operations of the facility including budget, physical plant, staffing, and directing the provision and integration of services to the people living at LLNTC. While responsibilities for this position are primarily administrative in nature, to be effective, knowledge of complex medical or behavioral support needs and organizational operations within a Skilled Nursing or residential facility is necessary. Job responsibilities include the following:
- Provide leadership, establish goals, set priorities, arbitrate disputes, and develop a positive atmosphere of belonging in which staff can develop and achieve excellence in their respective roles
- Ensure that the treatment and level of care conforms to requirements of Federal, State, and departmental regulations and policies
- Lead facility initiatives based on best practice in standard of care with a focus on the health, safety, and quality of life for people living at LLNTC
- Manage the allocation of clinical, budgetary, human and physical plant resources while ensuring that the facility meets/maintains regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS), the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF), families, guardians, community stakeholders and other agencies

- Thorough knowledge of the service needs and standards for service delivery for individuals who have complex medical needs with co-existing mental health or behavioral support needs
- Knowledge of administrative theories, methods, and practices pertaining to executive level institutional/residential facility management
- Working knowledge of various disciplines involved in the service delivery system
- Ability to direct the establishment of facility goals and priorities and to determine appropriate allocation of resources
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with central office administration, other state operated facilities and agencies, local agency directors, community leaders, representatives of advocacy and association groups, and other State, Federal, and local officials
Management Preferences
- Broad administrative/managerial experience in a local, state and/or federal government program of service delivery to individuals with complex medical and/or behavioral health needs
- 5 years of progressive supervisory experience in a large, diverse and dynamic organization budgeting resources, directing personnel and integrating services
- Direct experience with OBRA regulations and understanding of applicable Federal regulations, State statues, Division and Departmental policies
- Proficiency in planning, coordinating, and implementing safety procedures
- Prior work experience in a residential or long-term care setting, such as a skilled nursing facility
- Demonstrated commitment of advocacy for vulnerable populations
- Effective team building skills and prior experience working on inter-disciplinary teams.
Master's degree in human services, psychology, nursing, developmental disability, public administration, business administration, or hospital administration, or related field and five years of administrative management, two of which must have been in a broad management or administrative capacity or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Requires Nursing Home Administrator License as required by the North Carolina Nursing Home Administration Board or must be obtained within eighteen months of hire.
