The Unit Secretary collaborates with the clinical team to coordinate all aspects of patient care and transition out of the hospital setting. He/She is responsible for performing duties related to patient admission, transfer, and discharge, communication with patients, guests and staff, electronic health records maintenance, and other duties of a clerical nature. The Unit Secretary assists with coordinating the communication and organization of their inpatient unit. This individual provides clerical support to the care team including but not limited to: EMR navigation, scheduling appointments, preparing forms or paperwork, greeting patients/families, ordering supplies, handling mail and answering telephones.
