INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY COORDINATOR (#2223-87)

    This is a 12-month, 8 hour per day position

     

    SUMMARY:

    The Instructional Technology Coordinator works as part of the Teaching and Learning, and Information Technology departments to assist educational staff in integrating technology in the classroom to improve student achievement. Applies theory, design, practice and evaluation based on the instructional goals and learning objectives of the District. Acquires and updates skills as necessary for effective instructional technology management. Troubleshoots and acts as helpdesk for instructional software. Trains users in applications on the integration of technology into curriculum. Coordinates activities of outside vendors, consultants and trainers. Compiles and submits all data for Oregon Department of Education reports as assigned. Performs other related duties as assigned to support an effective and thorough educational program for the Sweet Home School District’s students and staff.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Other duties may be assigned.

    • Maintains a cooperative relationship with fellow staff members, student s and the general public.
    • Adheres to and enforces district, state, and federal laws, policies, procedures, and regulations.
    • Consults with IT and Teaching & Learning departments regarding instructional relevance of software/app requests and implementation
    • Makes recommendations for instructional technology curriculum, learning standards and skill development
    • Coordinate student rostering for instructional software/learning management platforms.
    • Provides professional development for instructional applications, strategies and use of hardware and software
    • Works closely with building Media Assistants to provide them with the necessary tools to assist their building staff with instructional hardware and software needs.
    • Provide assistance to District staff for curriculum-related software and/or applications.
    • Attends professional growth activities to keep abreast of innovations in classroom and learning technologies.
    • Compiles, maintains and files all physical and digital reports, records and other documents as required.
    • Gather data, check, arrange in proper required format and submit to ODE.
    • Clear all ODE audits and errors of submitted reports.
    • Maintain a constant flow of communication with the Teaching and Learning Director and the IT Department to improve the integration of instructional technology in the District.

     

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    • High school diploma
    • Must have 4 years of experience in the support of instructional software applications or working with instructional software in an educational environment.
    • Must have 4 years of experience working with and demonstrating the use of instructional and assessment technology.
    • Knowledgeable about computer operations, applications, and maintenance.
    • Experience in various software and application systems.
    • Proficient in use of spreadsheets, forms, presentation software and video software.
    • Knowledge and proficiency in using classroom hardware, such as projectors, documents cameras, smartboards, etc...
    • Software troubleshooting experience.
    • Knowledge of instructional and testing applications in the K-12 educational environment.
    • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
    • Written, and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
    • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgement, tact, and diplomacy
    • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
    • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

    • Certification as may be required by State.
    • Valid Driver’s License.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, staff, and the general public.

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    Ability to apply concepts such as algebra, geometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

     

    REASONING ABILITY:

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in written, mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

     

    OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

    Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and general public.  Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.  Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  The employee continuously interacts with students or staff and occasionally meets multiple demands from several people, with time constraints.  While performing the duties of this position the employee regularly works inside in a climate controlled environment.  While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.
