Representatives of ten member local governments in and around the Lynchburg metropolitan area comprise the Central Virginia Planning District Commission. The CVPDC guides and supports the Central Virginia Transportation Planning Organization, the Central Virginia Radio Communications Board, the Virginia Career Works – Central Region, and the Region 2000 Services Authority, which manages municipal solid waste for four localities.
The CVPDC employs 30 – 10 in the administrative office in downtown Lynchburg and 20 at the region’s municipal solid waste landfill in Campbell County. Most are full-time employees with access to a full suite of benefits including the Virginia Retirement System listed at CVPDC.org.
The Financial Services Professional/Office Manager provides payroll support and benefits administration, supports accounts payable for the Region 2000 Services Authority, and assists the Director of Finance with financial management for the CVPDC and its participating organizations. The successful candidate will further prepare and maintain records for the governing boards of each, including meeting minutes.
Candidates with at least three (3) years of experience supporting financial operations in a professional setting are encouraged to apply. A post-secondary degree in accounting, business, or a related field is preferred, as is experience using Quickbooks software.
Responsibilities:
- Manage financial records and ensure accuracy and compliance
- Prepare and maintain records for the governing boards including meeting minutes
- Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Process invoices, payments, and expense reports
- Perform general clerical duties such as data entry, filing, and document management
- Coordinate calendar management and schedule appointments
- Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and vendors
- Assist with training development for new employees
- Provide support to the front desk as needed
Skills:
- Proficient in QuickBooks or similar accounting software
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record keeping
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Familiarity with phone systems and handling incoming calls professionally
- Basic understanding of human resources processes and procedures
