Oncology Services Director plans and directs all aspects of an organization's oncology services policies, standards, and programs. Responsible for strategic clinical relationships with physicians and interns. Being an Oncology Services Director ensures oncology clinical programs are in compliance with all applicable regulations. Researches and studies current medical publications and data on new treatments and practices to ensure high quality clinical service offerings. Additionally, Oncology Services Director advises non-medical management on clinical and patient related matters and policies. Requires a MD. Typically reports to top management. The Oncology Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Oncology Services Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Summary:
    The Clinical Manager, Oncology Services lead operations of an oncology service line. Responsible for daily direction, utilization, supervision and instruction of professional and support staff, volunteers and students utilized in the clinic.


    Responsibilities:
    • Recruits, hires, orients and leads a team of clinical professionals in an oncology service line. Maintains daily operations of clinical procedures within a defined budget, ensuring that expenses and par inventory levels are monitored and maintained. Applies effective verbal and written performance feedback using the organization’s performance management toolkit.
    • Schedules and assigns duties to personnel to ensure proper coverage for the various functions within the service. Oversees scheduling to shape labor utilization within organizational productivity metrics.
    • Participates in budgetary and capital spending planning processes. Participates in capital development project planning including preliminary cost-benefit analysis and charge and revenue analysis within clinical area of focus.
    • Monitors and evaluates the performance of clinical care within assigned clinical environment, facilitating positive patient experience and care outcomes. Fosters and leads a continuous improvement approach to clinical operations for the purposes of efficient, ethical and quality care. Improves care outcomes through evidence-based practices.
    • Collaborates directly with all oncology providers to keep patient centered care a focus.
    • Develops cross-functional relationships as a champion of clinical professionalism, quality patient care, and effective billing practices. Collaborates within the cancer center, other sites and the hospital at large to support strategic initiative and goals.
    • Participate in accreditation (CoC) and quality development activities and initiatives. Partners with the Quality organization regarding the documentation of and response to patient safety events, including root cause analysis (RCA), implementation of subsequent process changes, and communication to staff.

    Qualifications
    Required
    • Bachelor’s degree in a clinical specialty or registered nursing.
    • Active clinical credentials (licensure or registration) for professional specialty
    • At least seven years of progressive clinical experience in oncology.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)

    Preferred
    • Master’s Degree in a clinical specialty such as nursing
    • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina or one of compact states.
