Online Pharmacist compounds and dispenses prescribed drugs per physician's instructions for online or mail order subscription orders. Manages a high volume of prescriptions. Being an Online Pharmacist does not typically interact with customers. May supervise technicians and oversee operational activities including data entry, order fulfillment, and shipping. Additionally, Online Pharmacist requires a doctorate degree in pharmacy (Pharm.D.). Typically reports to a manager or supervisor. Requires Registered Pharmacist (RPh). 1. Prepares and review medication orders per physician request using appropriate techniques according to protocols, policies and procedures.
- Assures the appropriateness of a medication order, including age-related factors, before preparing or permitting the distribution of the first dose.
- Maintains accuracy of patient profiles

- Exercises skill as a team member in the management of medical emergencies
- Ensures the policies and procedures related to medication distribution are followed.
- Oversees pharmacy technicians to assist with all medication distribution functions.
2. Contributes to the quality and effective operation of the department:
- Supervises and directs pharmacy support personnel. Verifies the daily activities of pharmacy technicians. Participates in the performance appraisal of pharmacy support personnel.
- Fosters a team environment by providing orientation and training to new team member
- Coordinates and completes all assigned medication storage area inspections in a timely manner.
- Identifies and replaces outdated and unusable drugs.
- Answers the telephone promptly identifying self and department. Directs calls to appropriate personnel.
- Adheres to infection control protocols.
- Develop pharmaceutical knowledge of hospital staff and students.
- Keeps pharmacy area neat, clean and well-organized.
3. Maintains competency required for current job title/position:
- Maintains current pharmacist license. Ensures applicable CE records are maintained.
- Attends pharmacy staff meetings
- Attends orientation, education, and training programs.
- Completes all competency/skills assessment requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required.
License: Registered Pharmacist (RX) required.
