Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Operations to join our team. As the Director of Operations, you will be responsible for the shelter operations that allow ROAR to achieve its mission as defined by the Board of the Directors. This includes the supervision and oversight of the administrative and program operations of ROAR, the shelter facility, the kennel and administrative staff. This is a senior leadership role that requires strategic thinking, strong managerial skills, and a proven track record in operations management.
Responsibilities:
· Oversee all shelter operations to maintain the highest standards in animal welfare
· Develop, oversee and coordinate ROAR’s community activities, representing ROAR as the primary public spokesperson in all community related events.
· Work with leadership and staff to ensure that the activities of ROAR, its program and goals are marketed, promoted and communicated to ROAR’s constituents.
· Maintain and enhance sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with community groups, local business leaders, shelter sponsors, and other rescue organizations.
· Maintain and expand ROAR’s grant request program.
· Act as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors, keeping the Board informed of shelter operations including the preparation and distribution of a monthly operations report.
· Manage ROAR’s Critical Care Committee including scheduling and documenting meetings; and participating in the identification of appropriate action plans. Assure that the CCC decisions and action are enforced and align with applicable law and ROAR’s policies
· Monitor and stay current on significant developments and trends in animal welfare, including proposed legislation and regulations impacting ROAR and its operations.
· Identify and initiate contact with new rescue organizations and maintain existing relationships including participating in animal selections and transports
· Create and maintain all processes and procedures related to shelter operations and animal care
· In collaboration with the Board finance representative, assure adherence to shelter budget
Experience:
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role overseeing operations in a similar industry
- Strong strategic planning skills with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans
- Exceptional leadership abilities with the capability to inspire and motivate teams
- Solid understanding of operations management principles and best practices
Pay is negotiable based on experience.
