    Summary:

     

    The Senior Manager, Legal Operations, works closely with all teams in the Legal Department, including Contracting, Conflicts, Compliance, and Data Governance, to support technology, operations, process improvements, and other Legal Department initiatives. In addition, the Senior Manager, Legal Operations will strategically align and collaborate with other administrative departments and business partners to support other initiatives within the organization. This position will further support the General Counsel in their goals to achieve operational excellence, foster a culture of continuous improvement, assess emerging technology, and develop the Legal Department’s long-term strategic technology roadmap. The successful candidate will use data analytics to identify opportunities to improve the function of the Legal Department, enable better informed decisions, and quantify the value of the legal function to the business.

     

    Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

    • Manage Legal’s Processes, Systems, Technology: Manage and continuously improve the Legal Department’s processes, systems, and technology including:
      • Develop and drive pipeline of projects to increase efficiency/effectiveness.
      • Identify and implement solutions to improve knowledge management and access to information within the Department and across the firm.
      • Monitor and optimize the Legal Department’s request management process, including developing ServiceNow workflows to meet the Department’s needs.
      • Identify and evaluate new technology to optimize Legal Department operations, including the possible use of AI tools for contract review.
      • Oversee training and user adoption of new solutions.
    • Data Analytics and Reporting: Proactively compile, analyze, and report on data related to Legal Department operations in order to generate metrics to assess efficient utilization of department resources and achieve greater productivity, while ensuring alignment with the Department’s objectives.
    • Collaborate with Other Stakeholders: Work in collaboration with the Information Technology team, and other administrative departments to identify and effectively solve problems. Work with consulting staff to implement solutions.
    • Project Management: Provide project management support for the Legal Department, including project plan development, routine status management, and task tracking.
    • Budget Management: Review and reconcile the Legal Department's budget on a monthly basis, providing updated quarterly and annual forecasts as necessary.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree required.
    • Minimum of 10 years of substantive relevant experience required.
    • An ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of relevant management experience in a legal operations, data analytics or technology role.
    • Prior experience within a large professional services, health care, or financial services environment preferred.
    • Strategic mindset and ability to develop and achieve long term goals.
    • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, coupled with ability to adapt and be flexible to find solutions.
    • Experience with business process management and cross-functional process improvement.
    • Experience developing and deploying workflow and task management tools and platforms. Experience with legal technology tools preferred, such as ServiceNow and NetDocuments.
    • Experience with data analytics, including familiarity with data cleaning, manipulation, and visualization concepts.
    • Project management experience.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, in writing and verbally. Ability to translate between technical and business groups effectively.
    • Proactive self-starter, with the ability to take projects from ideation through implementation.
    • Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to multi-task.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and sustain positive relationships.
    • Ability to work both independently and within a team on projects.
    • Enjoys contributing to a collaborative team environment.
    • An inclusive and growth-oriented mindset, strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to work across differences.
