Position Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting the Database Manager in the development and execution of a comprehensive database infrastructure and database development strategy. The Database Development Supervisor will lead a highly talented team of Database Developers that are responsible for the organization’s database architecture, presentation, development, and consolidation. The Database Development Supervisor must be capable of drawing sound conclusions; interpret and follow detailed and precise written and oral instructions; prepare clear, complete, and concise reports for review; supervise, evaluate, and train assigned staff; and effectively communicate and collaborate with people of various professional, vocational, and educational backgrounds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Management

• Provide strong technical direction and guidance, project management skills using the Project Management Institute (PMI) methodology, and related abilities to facilitate and execute multidiscipline projects and teams in accomplishing corporate goals and objectives

• Provide management oversight and responsibilities for all aspects of the Database Developer team using the Agile methodology for incremental product delivery.

• Provide resource management functions across the portfolio, consisting of complex project and maintenance efforts, to ensure that a skilled and adequate workforce is maintained with high employee morale, and the allocated budget is spent appropriately.

• Establish communication paths with staff and teams for impediment notifications, outages, or systemic problems to promote immediate or proactive resolution.

• Lead and own collaborative cross functional workgroups to resolve complex problems in real-time to reduce or mitigate operational interruptions.

• Build, manage, and energize a team of Database Developers with a proven focus on delivering business results with excellent customer service.

• Lead or actively participate in organizational planning while providing leadership and support to ensure that business goals and objectives are met.

Technical

• Establish, maintain, and promote a consistent and predictive methodology for Database Development using the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and a Quality Assurance (QA) system for delivering reliable, dependable, and valuable software products.

• Design and manage database architecture frameworks to ensure that the organization can readily address and navigate the regulatory changes that are persistent in the healthcare industry.

• Proficient in database modeling and relational database management systems, such as Microsoft SQL Server (2016, 2017, 2019), to include but not limited to database installation, configuration, upgrade, maintenance, and management.

• Proficient in utilizing Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS/SSIS Catalog) and industry development standards for Extract-Transform-Load (ETLs).

• Proficient in Microsoft SQL or Transact SQL for querying operational data.

• Proficient in Azure DevOps Server (formerly Team Foundation Server (TFS) and Visual Studio Team System (VSTS)) or other tools that provide version control, automated build, testing and release management capability.

Administrative

• Provide process improvement expertise to business stakeholders through evaluation and understanding of requirements while developing solutions or design proposals.

• Monitor the healthcare technology landscape for new trends, technologies, potential benefits, and participate in selection of tools, commercial software purchases, and upgrades.

• Recognize contributions by employees and teams while establishing clear and measurable performance expectations, ensure ownership of assigned goals and deliverables, and mentor subordinates to enhance their career development and growth.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited institution.

• Minimum of six (6) years of management experience within healthcare or related field for a medium to large size organization OR minimum of eight (8) years progressive experience in a data-oriented technical lead capacity for a medium to large size organization.

Preferred Experience:

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.

• PMI, Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

• Agile Alliance Scrum Master certification.
