Organizational Development Director directs the design, planning, and implementation of corporate organizational development programs, policies, and procedures. Approves change management initiatives and suggests enhancements to existing programs. Being an Organizational Development Director oversees the development of programs to build human capital and a strong employee development culture. Reviews key performance metrics to enable accurate and valid measurement of workforce performance and to identify areas for improvement. Additionally, Organizational Development Director proposes changes to organizational structure to leverage talent and provide development opportunities to key leaders in the organization. Develops systematic collection and evaluation of performance metrics. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Organizational Development Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Organizational Development Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.   • Position Summary 

     

    The mission of Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission (HOTV) is to prevent, reduce, and eliminate poverty, hunger, and homelessness by offering immediate assistance and long-term solutions. Our mission is to meet our participants' needs through an individualized and non-judgmental approach that will ultimately lead to long term housing stability. 

    Director of Organizational Development  will help execute and support the design, development, and implement, training for HOTV workforce. This position will provide training to programs at Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission to improve individuals and our teams. 


    Primary Duties and Responsibilities 

     

    • Deliver live and on-demand training programs using recognized training techniques and tools 

    • Facilitate on-boarding trainings for staff 

    • Develop, update and coordinate trainings for management staff 

    • Facilitate learning through a variety of delivery methods such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos and lectures.

    • Track and report on training completion and outcomes

    • Handle logistics for training activities including venues and equipment 

    • Assist/support the training needs for new and existing employees, this can include on-going trainings for staff

    • Identify appropriate training vendors for company needs         

    • Liaise with subject matter experts regarding instructional design 

    • Develop training aids such as presentation materials, handouts, and workbooks

    • Attend meetings and seminars to obtain information for use in training programs, or to inform management of training program status.

    • Manage and maintain in house training facilities and equipment 

    • Stay current on training design and methodologies 

    • Support Senior Management in identifying organizational gaps and then providing solutions to address those needs 

    • Additional responsibilities may be added

    • Ability to apply adult learning principles in training design, presentation, teaching and evaluation methods

    • Strong live facilitation and public speaking skills

    • Ability to apply effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

    • Demonstrated project management experience

    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment

    • Strong ability to multi-task and deliver on deadline

    • Able to maintain up-to-date knowledge in area of practice

    • Strong organization skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks

    • Ability to analyze and solve problems

    • Ability to work autonomously with initiative

    • Ability to travel up to 30%

    Other Requirements 

    • A master’s preferred. A bachelor's degree in a behavioral Science AND/OR a minimum of  3 years of recent job development, recruitment and employer relations experience in an employment and training setting with a preference for work focused or designed to serve low-income or system-involved youth and adults required,

    • Proficient in training internal employees

    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; familiar with Database functions and reporting. 

    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer  

    • Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis 

    • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead 

    • Occasionally lift and/or move, push and pull up to 25 pounds 

    • Hold a California Driver’s license with required insurance and a reliable vehicle. 

    • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred

    Handle, fingers, grasp and feel objects and equipment; Reach with hands and arms; Communicate, receive and exchange ideas, information by means of the spoken and written word; Be mobile by moving oneself from place to place quickly and easily; Repeat various motions with the wrists, hands, and fingers; Be able to have visual activity for (including, but not limited to) administrative and clerical tasks; Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Drive vehicle in and around Los Angeles County, as needed; be able to enter buildings that may require climbing stairs.  

     Be periodically subjected to outside environmental conditions. Use a desktop and/or laptop computer, copy, postage, and fax machines. Complete all required forms in personal writing. Employee may work in proximity to service animals and emotional support animals.
