Organizational Psychologist studies and assesses the organizations workforce, management, culture, business objectives, and challenges using psychological principles and research methods. Designs and develops programs and tools that will be appropriate for the needs of the organization and which will assist employees and management to better achieve desired goals. Being an Organizational Psychologist utilizes various methods including employee surveys, focus groups, skill assessments, performance appraisals, and other feedback mechanisms to assist management in identifying issues and driving improvements. Creates solutions and programs that may be focused on employee selection, job training, leadership training, workplace and family issues, and change management. Additionally, Organizational Psychologist requires a master's degree in industrial/organizational psychology. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Organizational Psychologist works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in "solution" or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge.     Purpose Statement:

    The Organizational System Specialist is responsible for supporting efficient data management, analysis, and optimization with a focus on sustainability while providing technical support to enhance our technological infrastructure's efficiency. This individual is responsible for maintaining accurate data, troubleshooting technical issues, and providing analytical insights to support our organization’s operations.

    • Collaborate with staff members in support of their work. 
    • Exercise independent decision-making, planning, and follow through. 
    • Maintain effective and professional relationships with individuals inside and outside of Minnesota Independence College and Community (MICC) with a strong customer service mindset.
    • Facilitate positive relationships with community partners and promote MICC whenever possible.
    • Maintain confidentiality and promote respect for all MICC participants, staff, families, and others. 
    • Demonstrate sound judgment, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

    Areas of Responsibility:


    Data Analysis and Reporting:

    • Collect, organize, and analyze data from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
    • Ensure data accuracy and reliability for analysis by cleaning and preprocessing.  
    • Use statistical methods, programming languages, and analytical tools to interpret data, discover trends, and generate insights. 
    • Solve problems creatively and support the Evaluation Program Manager with data-related issues. 
    • Create visual representations to present findings and make data more understandable for stakeholders. 
    • Work closely with different teams to understand their data needs and provide support in generating reports, visualizations, and actionable recommendations.
    • Develop and maintain databases, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and security. 
    • Maintain documentation on data processes and generate regular reports on findings. 
    • Implement and maintain data management systems, enhancing data collection and analysis efficiencies. 
    • Regularly monitor system connections and manage databases, implementing changes as needed while staying current with industry trends in data analysis and technology. 

    Software Training and Support:

    • Collaborate with outsourced IT managed services and help desk vendor, working with them on projects and providing backup onsite support as needed.  
    • Train employees effectively using software and tools to ensure efficient utilization of technology resources including initial onboarding, ongoing support, and development of organization wide trainings. 
    • Support staff when issues arise with entry or connections within Power BI, Power Automate, SharePoint, Microsoft Forms, Microsoft Teams, etc.
    • Implement solutions and improvements that optimize the use of systems.

    Paid Time Off (PTO):  

    MICC offers a generous amount of Paid Time Off (PTO):  

    • 176 hours / 22 days (prorated upon start date) of paid vacation time
    • 80 hours / 10 days (accrued at 3.33 hours per pay period) of paid sick time 
    • 80 hours / 10 days (holiday schedule available upon request) of paid holidays 
    • 8 hours / 1 day for floating holiday

    • Proficient in data analysis, visualization (e.g., Power BI), and database management (SQL).  

    Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or other qualifying degree or credentials.
    • 1-3 years of experience in data entry, database management, and analysis. 
    • Proven track record in data analysis, technical support, and utilizing Microsoft Windows Server operating systems.  
    • Experience with program evaluation within nonprofit organizations preferred.
    • Must reside in Minnesota.
