Position Title: Outreach Specialist
Location: ESC of Eastern Ohio

Compensation: Hourly, insurance coverage, and fringe benefits as per the current Mahoning Valley Regional Council of Government (MVRCOG) Board Policy.
Education/Degree: High school diploma or equivalent.
Reports to: Assistant Director of Infant/Toddler Programs
Supervises: None
Job Goal: Executes a regional outreach plan for multiple counties for infant and toddler programs. Conducts presentations to target audiences including physicians, medical professionals, legislators, parents and community agencies to spread awareness, generate referrals and cultivate relationships. Provide support to county outreach staff. Provide promotional materials to individual county staff. Will travel daily throughout assigned region of six Ohio counties to perform above duties, using personal automobile. This position will be employed by the Mahoning Valley Regional Council of Government.

Mahoning, Columbiana, Trumbull, Stark, Summit & Portage Counties in Ohio
Qualifications/Responsibilities:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree in social services, sociology, public communications or other relevant field of study preferred but not required.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Complete and obtain a positive BCI and FBI fingerprint background check.

Experience in Proficiency with computer applications, including Google Applications, Microsoft Office, spreadsheet and database programs.

Exceptional organizational and communications skills.
-
Abilities to promote positive internal and external customer relations.
-
A minimum of two years’ work experience with young children and their families preferred; familiarity with early childhood programs; familiarity with agencies serving at-risk populations; and a demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with local agencies.

A passion and desire for Early Childhood education and programs; the ability to effectively convey the benefits of these programs to families and the community.

Training in the field of early childhood disabilities and related development/learning disorders and developmental evaluations of young children (infancy – age 6).

Willingness/ability to work as a team member.

Valid Ohio driver’s license with good driving record with daily access to private insured vehicle during work hours. Will travel in assigned region for individual meetings and outreach activities. Mileage is reimbursed.

Ability to work flexible schedule to meet the needs of families, including some night and weekend hours for events.

Attend outreach events which positively promote Early Childhood Programs, this will include weekday events as well as some night and weekend events in the community.

Collaborates with regional outreach coordinators to learn, share and implement any effective strategies used to connect with families and referral sources.

Any other duties assigned by the Superintendent.
